GXFC U13B Black Step Up for Atlanta Showdown Crown

Playing up in the U14 Boys division, the Georgia Express U13 Boys Black team finished an undefeated weekend to take the Inaugural Atlanta Showdown crown.

Saturday's play brought two clean sheets for the boys, with a win over a strong Georgia FC U14 Boys team and a scoreless draw with FC Alliance from Knoxville.  Sunday would be a long day, with a comfortable win over Liberty SC bringing a clash with the top seed from Saturday, United from Cartersville Clash.  The game was tied after regulation and was decided with a penalty in the first overtime period.  This set up a rematch with FC Alliance in the late finale of the tournament.

Georgia Express faced an FC Alliance team that played one less game on Sunday.  It was an excellent game with little separating the two teams.  GXFC scored off a set play, with a ball headed forward to Devin duCille, who headed the ball in.  Alec Borden kept his third clean sheet of the tournament to take the Champion trophies.  The team will be one of the favorites in the President's Cup in January.
